Javea: a town with charm and history on the Costa Blanca
On the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, located north of the Costa Blanca, is a charming town that over the years has experienced a growth in population and tourism.
With its scenic coastline, bustling town centre, and rich cultural heritage, Javea is a destination that has it all. Situated along the coast, just a short distance from Moraira, and around the corner from Cabo de la Nao. Javea town is distinguished by the presence of Mount Montgo, which looms over the landscape and is often referred to as the "Elephant's Head" by locals, and is now recognized as a "Parque Natural," or natural park.
Montgo, made of "Tosca" stone, is a small mountain that extends into the sea at Cabo San Antonio. Interestingly, its subterranean path continues beneath the Mediterranean before emerging as Ibiza, a fact that is not widely known. The unique Tosca stone, which was originally quarried from Javea's beaches in Roman times, was until recently, used in arches and pillars of local buildings and villas.
Other places of interest that make Javea a welcoming and special town are: Balcon del Mar, Cap Marti, El Rafalet, Granadella, La Lluca, Portichol and Villes de Vent, all areas that have been growing in developable land over the years.

The town has grown and developed in a ‘T’ shape, parallel to the coastline, and formed from three distinct areas:
- The left-hand end of the head of the ‘T’ is the original old town which is perched upon a hill and still retains its ‘Spanishness’. The commercial heart of the town blends in within a tangle of quaint, narrow passageways and a permanent, covered market building close to the church square.
- The right end of the head of the ‘T’ is the harbour and marina that honours its fishing origins with its own market and a daily fish auction.
- Moving back southwards, along the waterfront, just past the beachside Parador, is the Arenal beach, a superb sandy bay with clusters of palm trees providing bathers with some essential shade. Along the Arenal is a multitude of restaurants and shops, while the Pueblo and the Puerto also offer an impressive variety of bars, shops, and restaurants.
Between the marina, old town and Arenal triangle you will find a wide variety of apartments catering to different budgets and preferences.
Beyond this area, are many developments of detached villas, linked villas and townhouse complexes with plenty of protected green areas, available to purchase from €120,000 to €5m+.
